Are Our Universities Under Attack?
With protests erupting on university campuses nationwide, a wave of questions crashes over us. What’s happening? Why now? What lies beneath the surface?
Initially, we might perceive these as spontaneous outcries from innocent students, their hearts ablaze with righteous anger at the tragic loss of innocent lives in Gaza. But if that were the whole story, why were there no such protests after October 7th, after atrocities equally heart-wrenching?
The more we delve into this complex situation, the more we realize that we are not witnessing a purely spontaneous reaction. This is a meticulously planned, insidiously orchestrated, strategic campaign, years in the making. Reliable reports reveal that this PR war, for that is what it truly is, was conceived in Western think tanks two decades ago, fueled by billions from those who understand that capturing the hearts and minds of America requires swaying its media, its universities, its Hollywood.
Unveiling Hidden Agendas
I recall a conversation with a dear friend, a lawyer deeply involved with the Black Lives Matter movement. He proposed we march together, but something felt amiss. “Richard,” I asked him, “during the Tree of Life synagogue massacre, where was your outrage? I didn’t see you rushing to Pittsburgh, to stand with your own people, the Jewish people.”
He responded, with genuine respect, “You sound like a racist.”
The accusation hung in the air, but it wasn’t the label that troubled me. It was the selectivity, the laser focus on one form of suffering while others were seemingly ignored. Was this genuine empathy, or something else entirely?
When we encounter such selective outrage, we must ask ourselves – why? Even if one holds critiques of Israel, and surely there are always areas for improvement, is it ever justifiable to declare an entire nation, an entire people, utterly irredeemable?
There is something deeper at play here, and while anti-Semitism surely rears its ugly head, I believe it’s only one piece of a larger puzzle. We are witnessing agendas driven by ideology, by financial gain, by the relentless pursuit of power. The very foundations of America – freedom of speech, open debate, respect for diverse viewpoints – are under assault.
The Price of Silence
We cannot afford to be lulled into complacency by carefully constructed narratives. As a nation, we are being tested, and history has taught us the bitter lesson that silence is not neutrality; it is acquiescence.
The path forward is clear, but it demands courage. We must demand transparency. Investigate the funding streams. Expose the hidden agendas. Support the creation of new institutions of higher learning, beacons of true intellectual freedom, where diverse perspectives can thrive without fear of censorship or reprisal.
Reclaiming Our Moral Compass
The Jewish people, throughout their long and tumultuous history, have experienced the sting of exile, the brutality of persecution. Yet, time and again, we have risen from the ashes, not with vengeance in our hearts, but with an unwavering commitment to justice, to compassion, to the enduring values that have sustained us for millennia.
This is not simply a conflict between nations; it is a battle for the very soul of humanity. It is a struggle for the recognition that we are all interconnected, all created in the Divine image, each with a unique and irreplaceable role to play in the grand tapestry of life.
We must find our voices. We must reclaim our moral compass. We must stand united, not in blind allegiance, but in a shared commitment to truth, to justice, to the belief that a better world is possible, a world where dialogue triumphs over division, and where compassion paves the path towards a brighter future.
This is our challenge. This is our calling. Let us rise to meet it, together.
