Indiscriminate hate never ends well, usually leading to discriminating heartbreak. It begins with nine days of utter devastation, abstaining from the luxurious pleasure life’s delicacies. On the ninth day, Tisha b’Av, both Temples were destroyed, the first by Babylon, the second by Rome. But then, the heartbreak is followed by romance; the breaks of hate are smelted together by the glues of love. A broken moon is followed by a full moon. On the fifteenth, Tu b’Av, the dancing commences and the joy is restored to the children of heaven.
