I will never forget a tragic event that happened – a young mother, a beautiful soul beloved by our community was brutally ripped away from us leaving a young family behind. But what I remember above all till this very day is something even more powerful. How her husband, her mother, her children found that deep resolve that comes from profound faith and connection; where your light is stronger than any darkness in the world around you.
Fire cannot destroy us and water cannot drown us.
This echoes Chanukah’s message: the menorah’s flames symbolize a light that not only withstands darkness but grows stronger through it.
Unlike the Temple’s indoor flames, Chanukah candles are lit at night and placed outward, representing a light that confronts and conquers the world’s darkness. True strength is revealed when faced with challenges, much like a teabag steeped in hot water. Adversity can awaken deeper resolve, perseverance, and dignity, teaching us that our inner flame is unyielding.
Chanukah reminds us to draw strength from our light, overcome setbacks, and inspire resilience in others. Even in dark moments, your flame shines stronger. Happy Chanukah!
